As an artist, I’m always looking for new and innovative ways to create meaningful artwork. With the recent rise in popularity of artificial intelligence (AI), I was curious to see what kind of insights AI could offer me as an artist. So I asked AI what the most liked artwork in the world would look like. What AI came up with was a collage of symbols from all over the world, each telling a different part of a story.
Intrigued, I decided to make the symbolism the central theme of my artwork. I created a mood board with all the symbols and even went so far as to ask AI to create the image for me. The resulting artwork is a contrast-rich collage of symbols on different backgrounds, each one representing a different aspect of humanity.
In “Symboliek over de hele wereld” (Symbolism from Around the World), my goal was to create a work of art that would resonate with many people. The subject of the artwork is us: humanity, our culture, our emotions, and our world. It’s a work that represents the entire world.
All of the symbols are rendered in gold on a blue background with texture, and a depth effect is used to give the artwork a three-dimensional feel. Each symbol was carefully chosen for its meaning and significance, and together they tell a story of the human experience.

The artwork includes symbols such as “De Reis van de Held” (The Hero’s Journey), a narrative structure that has been used throughout history in countless stories. It follows a hero who goes on a journey, faces challenges, and ultimately triumphs over adversity. Another symbol is “Het Labyrint” (The Labyrinth), which represents a journey or quest and is often used to represent the search for one’s own identity or purpose.
The “Klavertje Vier” (Four-leaf clover) is a symbol often associated with luck and prosperity. It represents the idea of finding a happy chance or having good luck in life. The “Wereldbol met daarachter een regenboog” (Globe with a Rainbow Behind It) is often used to represent diversity and inclusion. It symbolizes a global community working together to create a better future for everyone, regardless of race, sexuality, gender identity, or religion. The rainbow represents the many different colors and identities that exist on the planet, while the globe expresses the idea of our global interconnectedness.
The “Vier Elementen” (Four Elements) – earth, air, fire, and water – are often used as symbols of balance and harmony in nature. The “Yin Yang” represents the balance between opposing forces, such as light and dark, male and female, or good and evil. The “Boom des Levens” (Tree of Life) is a symbol that has been used throughout history in many cultures and religions. It represents growth, connection, and the cycle of life.
The “Schilderpenseel” (Paintbrush) is often used to represent art and creativity. It symbolizes the idea of creating something new and unique through expression and imagination. It not only represents traditional art forms such as painting but can also be associated with other forms of creative expression such as writing, sculpting, making music, and dancing.
Finally, the “Hart” (Heart) represents love, affection, and emotion. It is often used to express romantic love, but it can also be associated with other forms of love, such as friendship or family bonds. In my artwork, the heart symbolizes the emotional connection between people and their ability to love and care for each other. It also represents the importance of empathy and understanding in creating a harmonious society.
Overall, my artwork titled “Symbolism Across the World” is a representation of humanity and the world we live in, with all its diversity and complexity. By using various symbols from different cultures and traditions, I aimed to create a universal language that can be understood and appreciated by people from all over the world. The contrast-rich background and the use of gold as the color of the symbols create an aesthetic that is both striking and meaningful.
I hope that my artwork will inspire people to reflect on the beauty and richness of the world we live in and the importance of embracing diversity and inclusivity. The symbols used in the artwork represent not only the past and present but also the future possibilities of a harmonious world where people can live together in peace and understanding.
