The beauty of today’s techniques like artificial intelligence and machine learning is that we can use computers to do things we never thought possible. I used such techniques to create a portrait of the girl with the pearl earring. This girl was portrayed by Johannes Vermeer and could look like the one in this work in a portrait photograph today.If you look closely and hold up an image of Vermeer’s painting you can see the resemblance.A piece of modern digital art made from an old master.If you study this work closely you can even see that the cracks in the paint of the painting come back in the skin and hair of this photo. So don’t expect a perfectly sharp picture like modern cameras do but with all the imperfections it is a beautiful picture of how modern technology is combined with old masters.
